Institutional Data Policy & Data Classification

November 12, 2015

Did you know the OCIO recently revised the Institutional Data Policy? If your job involves looking at information other than what the public can view on our websites and in marketing materials, then this policy applies to YOU. Do you want your personal information to be shared with just anyone? Neither do our students!  To learn more about the different types of data and how to protect it, please visit the updated Institutional Data Policy webpage here. This site explains the new data classifications along with related OCIO policies. It also provides job aids that explain the reasons behind the data classifications (for example, some items are “restricted” due to regulatory requirements), the methods by which you are allowed to share or store various data types, and the data you can use with various university services.
