Microsoft Office 365 available for staff

July 27, 2017

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) has rolled out Microsoft Office 365 for university faculty, staff and guests. This provides Ohio State employees access to use the Microsoft suite in the classroom, at work, and at home on their personal devices. These services will provide additional ways to collaborate with your colleagues on documents and presentations. Often, this can be done with just a web-browser (Office Online).

Please note that OneDrive and Microsoft Forms should not be used to capture or store sensitive data. For an in depth explanation of how The Ohio State University classifies data, please refer to the University Data Classification Matrix located here:

The following services are included in this roll out:

  • Office 365 ProPlus – Mac/PC Licenses for full Office installs; enables Mobile Office
  • Office Online – Work in the cloud using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and PDF documents in your web browser
  • OneDrive for Business – One (1) terabyte of cloud storage; needed for Office Online
  • Sway – Easily create engaging, interactive, web-based reports and presentations
  • Forms – Quizzing function available through Office 365
  • Planner – Create new plans, build a team, assign tasks, and update status in a few easy steps
  • Delve – Discover current information likely to be most interesting to you across Office 365

To access the five free downloads (these are not needed or intended for use on Student Life provided computers), faculty and staff must use their lastname.#@osu.edu login information and password. If the user is an employee AND Ohio State student, note that they will have two accounts. In this case, to login as an employee they must use their lastname.#@osu.edu, and to login as a student they must use their lastname.#@buckeyemail.osu.edu
